The Joel DeBellefeuille Foundation Inc. has launched a new app to provide real-time alerts for missing persons.
The app ‘iAlerts.io‘ aims to provide “real-time alerts for missing persons, aiming to enhance search efforts and reunite loved ones swiftly”.
“In moments of crisis, every second counts,” said Joel DeBellefeuille, Founder and Chairman of The Joel DeBellefeuille Foundation Inc. “AMBER Alerts serve a crucial role, but they don’t cover every case.”
He adds, “iAlerts.io bridges that gap by leveraging community solidarity and rapid communication to ensure that more missing persons receive the visibility they deserve. By empowering everyday citizens with timely information, we can make a tangible difference in bringing loved ones home safely.”
According to the foundation, the app will fill gaps left by official systems like AMBER Alerts, which are only issued in cases where a child under 18 is believed to have been abducted.
They add that many cases do not meet the strict requirements for an alert. However, the app would still allow for any missing person to receive the attention they need.
iAlerts.io does operate using a subscription — $0.99 per month or $11.88 annually. Those who subscribe will receive SMS and MMS notifications with critical information such as descriptions, photographs, and last known locations of missing individuals.
